I don't have a whole lot of time today - it feels rare that I do these days if I'm being quite honest :) I'm not exactly sure I know what I want to write about. It's not like there isn't an abundance of things I could write about, it's quite the opposite. I find I have so many interests, that creating consistency is rather difficult when you want to do so much. This always gets me thinking about the famous Fig Tree quote by Sylvia Plath from the 

- is it what you decide that matters or that you decide? This is something that frequents my mind's watering hole.

For now though, it seems like open reflection and figuring out what I want to write about is what I want to write about :p

But seriously, as I'm writing now, I may as well enumerate the general topics that also frequent my mind's watering hole:

 work (my dreams of technology's impact on the world)

I'm going to mull it over until this weekend, though I think I already realized what I'm going to write as a by-product of creating the aforementioned list. 

First, I'm just going to write about my experiences in my pursuit of understanding everything I'm wanting to learn.

Second, I'm going to just pick up one my recent half-baked drafts and get it to the finish line.

Third, I want to formalize what my "goals" are for the year. Like last year, my goals don't have a particular framework - the main thing I'm looking for is 

in what I do every day and what I believe is possible. I have a few ideas bouncing around my head. Here's the vomit:

Milestones: Write a blog post at least every other day even if it just says "hello world" - it counts :)

Milestones: post some cover songs on soundcloud, even if you can't get all the notes right (which is undeniably true)

Milestones: post some cover songs on youtube, even if you can't get all the notes right

I once heard a quote like "you'll never look as good as you do today when you're 80". I'd like to be able to look back on how I look over the years.

Keeping the Gravy Train Moving

This blog has been a long time coming - over a decade now actually. I have so many half complete blog posts - some I didn't even remember I had from years ago! The funny thing about starting, or rather not starting something, is that everything you think mattered to getting started didn't actually matter.

    The most important thing is actually doing the thing and building up the engine along the way. Because, now a decade later, what I thought to write about a decade ago is hardly relevant anymore - it's lost! Those half complete thoughts may have never been full-on delicacies, but if they made it to be barely palatable, they'd be in existence, and who I was and how I thought would be there - immortalized (so to speak) - instead of lost. Few ways of being lost are as so personally painful as being lost by inaction.

    With this experience in mind, I'm trying to reduce my expectations on what it means for me to write daily and just start writing. Getting my thoughts out you know, and maybe, improving along the way? At the very least, when I'm 40, I'll have something to look back on to get a glimpse of what I wanted to convey when I was 30.

    Starting today, I will just write - ideally once a day, but as much as I can. This endeavor is ultimately for my enjoyment and self-exploration :) the last thing I want to do is make it painful to do.

    This wasn't really a New Year's Resolution, but I guess it ended up being on  Jan 1st :) I'll take it as good fortune. Happy New Year.
